How to Check If Google Has Indexed Your Website

Last updated October 21, 2026

The quickest check is to search for site:yourdomain.com in Google, using your own address. For one page, paste its address into the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console. The Page indexing report shows which of your pages are listed and why others are not. Seeing a page listed does not mean it ranks well.

What does indexed mean?

Indexed means Google has visited a page and stored it so it can appear in search results. A page can be indexed and still rank far down the results. A page that is not indexed cannot appear at all.

How do I check with a Google search?

  1. Open Google in your browser.
  2. Type site: followed by your web address with no spaces, for example site:example.com.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Look at the results. Google shows only an approximate list, so use this as a quick check and not as an exact count.

If nothing appears, your site may not be indexed yet. See our guide on why a website may not be showing up on Google.

How do I check one page in Search Console?

  1. Open Google Search Console and choose your property.
  2. Paste the full page address into the search bar at the top.
  3. Wait for the result. It says whether the page is on Google or not.
  4. If the page is not on Google, read the reason given, such as a noindex tag or a robots.txt block.

How do I see all my pages at once?

  1. In the left menu of Search Console, open Indexing, then Pages.
  2. Read the two totals at the top: pages that are indexed and pages that are not.
  3. Scroll down to Why pages are not indexed. Select a reason to see which pages have it.

Some pages are meant to be left out, such as thank-you pages or login pages. Focus on the pages you want people to find.

Why does Search Console show fewer pages than my sitemap?

Google does not list every page it finds, and the reports can lag by several days. A small gap is normal. A large gap is worth investigating by opening the Page indexing report and reading the reasons it gives.

Does indexed mean I will get visitors?

No. Being indexed only makes a page eligible to appear. Whether it appears for a given search depends on how well it matches that search and how it compares with other pages. SEORegistration.com cannot guarantee any ranking, traffic, or results.

Can I check indexing on Bing too?

Yes. Bing Webmaster Tools has its own URL Inspection tool, and you can also search for site:yourdomain.com in Bing. Our Bing guide explains how to set up your site there.
